Notes for John Linn “Raymond” Waller
Raymond Waller

Mr. John Linn "Raymond" Waller, Sr. 90 had a joyous homecoming with his Lord and Savior on August 30. Loved by all that knew him; a loving and humble Daddy, Dad, Pampy, DaDaddy, and Fodder will be enormously missed. A quiet man full of love, hope, and compassion for his loved ones.

The Navy called him from his young family for a short while to serve in World War II on an aircraft carrier from 1944-1946 but upon his return he continued his life's path for him and started Waller's Floor Service where he worked until retirement at the age of 67. A hardworking, talented and intelligent man, after retirement his past times included flower gardening, and hunting, fishing, (talking with his Indian friend) and cherished times with family which included listening to his great granddaughter sing to him for hours on end. He embraced life and lived through the journey of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren always interested and listening.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jesse Frances Cranford Waller with whom he enjoyed 68 years of marriage. Mrs. Waller passed away October 19, 2006.

Mr. Waller was born July 3, 1918 in Rowan County, son of the late Elmer Frederick Waller and Ethel Irene Fisher Waller. He graduated from Boyden High School. He was a member of the Christiana Lutheran Church, a Charter member of the American Legion, and a former member of the Franklin Lions Club.

Survivors include a son, J. Linn R. Waller, Jr. and wife Jeanette of Peachland, NC. Two daughters, Sylvia Waller Hamilton and Charles of Rock Hill, SC, and Susan Waller Abernethy and the late Charles Abernethy of Salisbury. One sister survives, Mrs. Helen Waller Poole of Charlotte. Fourteen grandchildren, Sheri Livingston, Charles Hamilton, Jeffery Hamilton, Lisa Marsengill, Mary Creighton, Raymond Hamilton, Stacey Thompson, Amber Segerlin, Ashley Waller, John Waller, Melinda Abernethy-Smith, Brad Abernethy, Katie Abernethy, and Corey Abernethy. 17 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.
