Notes for Phoebe Fraley
Her grave is in the northeast corner of the cemetery.
Phoebe is also spelled Phebe or Pheba.

WENDEL MILLER AND HIS DESCENDANTS identifies Phoeba (see pp. 241, 244) with the daughter of Samuel Fraley and Elizabeth Susan Shaver, daughter of Abraham Shaver and Christina Foutz. Therefore the generation of Nelson Page is listed twice in chapter VIII, as the 7th generation from Wendel through John Daniel (p. 237) and the 8th generation through Phoeba (p. 246).

The dates do not allow this identification. It is possible, or even likely, that Phoeba was the sister of Samuel Fraley.

MARRIAGES OF ROWAN COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA: 1753-1868, Brent H. Holcomb, compiler, Genealogical Pub Co, 1981, gives the name as Phebe. So does the 1870 census.

(Information from 1953) Luther's Lutheran Church was organized about 1828. The first church was a log building which stood between the present church [1931, 4th building] and the road.
