Bio: GERALDINE VANNESS COLE, 90, formerly of Athens RR 2, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997. Born March 17, 1907 in Standing Stone Township, she was the daughter of Fred C. and Emma Keene VanNess. Mrs. Cole was a member of the North Ghent Ladies Auxiliary. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and wonderful homemaker. She helped her late husband on the family farm for many years. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Lee G. Cole, in 1989, a grandchild, Russell Crainey; and a great-grandchild Leslie Ammerman. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Shirley Cole of Waverly, N.Y., Larry and Mikki Cole of Milan, and Jim and Loni Cole of Athens; five daughters and sons-in-law, Harriet and Bob Mayhood of Endicott, N.Y., Helen and Floyd Ammerman of Endicott, Emma and Bob Beckwith of Boulder, Colo., Joyce and Gerald Crainey of Cayuta, N.Y., and Janice and Bob Ross of Ulster; 27 grandchildren and 46 Great-grandchildren; a nephew, Claude VanNess of Towanda; one brother-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home, Athens, on Wednesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Wells, senior pastor at Maranatha Bible Chapel, officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to The American Diabetes Assoc, Kirby Health Center Annex. 63 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, Pa. –Towanda Daily Review.
