Charles Grady Whitley

Charles Grady Whitley, of Charlotte, died Saturday, August 1, 2009, at home.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Wolfe Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tony Caruso officiating.

Born in Oakboro, N.C., Mr. Whitley was a son of Claude and Beulah Little Whitley. He served in the the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Air National Guard. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church at Lake Wylie.

Surviving are two sons, Charles Jeffrey Whitley and Gene René Whitley, both of Charlotte, N.C.; his brother, Coy Whitley of Red Cross, N.C.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Morton Whitley and his daughter, Debra McCarthy.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Wolfe Funeral Home.
