James Robert "Bobby" Strother
James Robert "Bobby" Strother, 64, of Raeford, passed Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.
Mr. Strother was born Sept. 17, 1945, in Moore County and was the son of Sarah Lowder Strother. and the late Robert D Strother Jr.
A funeral service was held at Ashley Heights Baptist Church Saturday, June 5, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Kevin Huff officiating. Burial followed in Ashley Heights Cemetery.
Mr. Strother was a volunteer member of the Pinehill Fire Department for 32 years and a member of the Hoke County Rescue Squad for more than 17 years. He was an avid collector of lighthouses and enjoyed an array of activities involving his John Deere tractor.
Mr. Strother is survived by his wife of 22 years, Norma Parker Strother; two sons, Robert Strother, of Wilmington, and Jeffrey Strother and wife, Joy, of Rotonda West, Fla.; two stepchildren, Sheri Runfola and husband, Jesse, of Fayetteville, and Ronald Corrado and wife, Angie, of Whispering Pines; five grandchildren, Braylon Strother, Amanda Cummings, Luther Cummings, Nolan Corrado and Savannah Norton; a sister, Linda Maiolini, of Milford, Ohio; and brothers, Garry Strother, of Whispering Pines, and Carl Strother, of Raeford.
Mr. Strother was preceded in death by his father; and a sister, Sheila S. Bowlings.
