Roy Summerell Kirk
Roy Summerell Kirk, 89, of Boone, died Feb. 7, 2005 at Watauga Medical Center.
He was born in Rowan County, a son of the late Hinton and Mabel Lipe Kirk.
Mr. Kirk was a sales representative for Pittsylvania Hardware, and was a veteran of World War II, having served as a navigator in the Army Air Corps. Mr. Kirk was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret P. Kirk; four daughters, Judy Sink and husband, Sam, of Boone; Beth Shoffner and husband, Bob, of Hickory; Lee Ann Michael and husband, Joe, of Burlington; and Patty Hinshaw of Binghamton, New York; one sister, Angie Sides of Sherrills Ford; four granddaughters, Amy Sink of Pretoria, South Africa, Adrienne Shoffner of Tampa, Fla., Lauren Shoffner of Mebane, N.C., and Amy Michael of Wilmington; three grandsons, Damon Hinshaw of Arlington, Va., Darren Sink of Durham, N.C. and Joseph Michael of Raleigh; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, George Ray Kirk, Ralph Kirk, Raymond Kirk, Robert Kirk, and Richard Kirk.
