Donald Richard Peeler
ROCKWELL - Mr. Donald Richard Peeler Sr., 73, of Rockwell, passed away on June 27, 2012, at his residence.
He was born June 11, 1939, in Rowan County, the son of the late James Douglas Peeler Sr., and Elsie Cain Peeler.
Donald was a 1957 graduate of Granite Quarry High School and also played on the basketball team and the baseball team. Donald was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rockwell, and worked at Mill Fabrics for 30 years, where he was president for a number of years. He had worked for and retired from Coca-Cola.
He was an extremely dominating pitcher in fast-pitch softball. Donald loved woodworking, farming and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Peeler.
Survivors include wife Susie Kluttz Peeler, who he had been married to for 19 years; sons Richard Peeler and wife Marlene of Salisbury, Randy Peeler of Gainsville, Va.; daughters Katrina P. Koons and husband Johnny, III of Centreville, Va., Angie P. Walker and husband Mike of Chantilly, Va., Sabrina P. Morin and husband Scott of Centreville, Va.; grandchildren Brandon, Justin and Joseph Peeler of Salisbury, Johnny IV, Tyler, Josh and Tanner Koons of Centreville, Va., Hannah Walker of Chantilly, Va., Taylor, Tori and Connor Morin of Centreville, Va.; stepsons Eric Patterson and fiancee Elaine Brown of Rockwell, Jeff Patterson and wife Christy of Gold Hill; and step-grandchildren Kaylee and Joshua Patterson and Ashley Brown.
Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 29 at Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rockwell, conducted by Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials: May be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2070 Emanuel Church Road, Rockwell, NC.
