Steven Alexander "Pete" Lackey
Steven Alexander "Pete" Lackey, 78, of Salisbury, died Monday (Nov. 8, 2004) at his residence.
Born Jan. 23, 1926, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Mattie Kennerly Lackey and Dorce Charles Lackey. Educated in Rowan County Schools, Mr. Lackey was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from N.C. Finishing Co. in 1988. Mr. Lackey belonged to Wyatt's Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Union Fire Department.
His wife, Mary Foust Lackey, died Sept. 26, 1988, and a son, Joel Wayne Lackey, died July 18, 1996.
Survivors include a son, Barry Donald Lackey, Salisbury; a sister, Ruth Lackey Agner, Salisbury; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Lyerly Funeral Home chapel conducted by the Rev. David Jones, pastor, Wyatt's Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial, Wyatt's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with military rites by the Rowan County Veterans Council.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. today, Lyerly Funeral Home.
