GRANITE QUARRY -- Catherine Brown Kirchin, 92, Granite Quarry, died Tuesday (Sept. 3, 2002) at her home.
Born Dec. 11, 1909, in Rowan County, Mrs. Kirchin was a daughter of the late James Aaron and Agnes Pauline Tucker Brown. She was a graduate of Boyden High School and Catawba College.
A teacher in the Rowan-Salisbury Schools for 33 years, she was a member of NCAE.
She was an active member of Wittenberg Lutheran Church, where she was a member of WELCA, and a former member of the Altar Guild, choir, and the Christian education and telephone committees. She was also a former Sunday school teacher and an active participant in the Bazaar for Granite Civic Park.
Her husband, Reginald "Reg" Kirchin, died Aug. 14, 1986.
Survivors include daughter Cathy Kirchin, of the home; and sister Gertrude Brown Fisher, Kannapolis.
Services: 4 p.m. Thursday, Wittenberg Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Hollar, interim pastor, and the Rev. John Woodard, former pastor. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 6-7:30 tonight, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell. At other times the family will be at the home.
