Ethel Vanhoy
Thursday, June 9, 2011 — Ethel Mae Vanhoy, 86, of Albemarle, passed away on June 6 at the home of her daughter, Peggy Lowder, in New London.
The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at Antioch Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Jerry Crisco. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will also be meeting at the home of Peggy Lowder, 51305 Pineview Road, New London.
Mrs. Vanhoy was born in Rowan County on February 18, 1925, to the late Grady Treece and the late Emma Treece. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lee Vanhoy.
Mrs. Vanhoy is survived by sons, Clinton Vanhoy, John Vanhoy, Gene Vanhoy, all of New London, Harold Vanhoy of Albemarle; daughters, Diane Haire, Frances Blalock, both of Albemarle, Janice McKeithan, Peggy Lowder both of New London; 18 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren.
Mrs. Vanhoy was a loving homemaker.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Vanhoy family.
