Vernie Almond
Wednesday, June 8, 2011 — Vernie Estelle Sides Almond, 89, formerly of 24132 Hwy. 73 West, Albemarle, passed away on June 5, 2011 at her home in Charlotte, surrounded by her loving family.
The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8.
The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. The Rev. Rick Felts will officiate. Burial will be in Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Almond was born in Stanly County on July 29, 1921 to the late James Calvin and Martha Ellen Hatley Sides. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Houston Almond, in 2003.
A member of First Baptist Church in Mt Pleasant, she retired from Cannon Mills in Kannapolis.
Mrs. Almond is survived by her daughter, Lea Ellen Martin Tate of Charlotte; sister, Beacy Huneycutt of Albemarle; and granddaughter, Jessica Ellen Martin of Charlotte.
