Irene Herrin Morton
Sunday, November 21, 2010 — Irene Herrin Morton, age 86, of 24216 Endy Road, Albemarle, passed away, Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. At other times the family will meet at the home of her daughter, Sonja Harrington, 24006 Old Aquadale Road, Albemarle. The funeral service will be at Canton Baptist Church, where she was a member, on Monday at 2 p.m. There will be a 30 minunte state. Rev. Ferrell Shimpock and Gary Hunsucker wll officiate. The burial will be at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born May 1, 1924 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Clay Herrin, Sr. and the late Esther Lee Lowder Herrin. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Serena M. McGary.
She was a retired machine operator for Federal Pacific.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Morton and wife, Nellie, of Abbeville, SC; daughters, Venita Forbes and husband, Jim, and Sonja Harrington and husband, Doug, all of Albemarle; grandchildren, Dreama Mackie, Kevin Morton, Michael Harrington and Jason Harrington; brothers, Melvin Herrin and wife, Frances, of Charlotte and Ernest Herrin, Jr. and wife, Ann, of Albemarle; sister, Betty Burris of Albemarle; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County.
