Clyde Cagle
Sunday, January 7, 2007 — Clyde William Cagle, 89, of 24467 Helms Road, Albemarle, died at 2:32 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at his home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Palestine Cemetery. The Revs. Bradley Poplin and Nick Rochester will officiate.
Born June 7, 1917, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late Charlie Lester and Sally Tom Morris Cagle.
A member of the Primitive Baptist faith, he had worked in the card room at Wiscassett Mills.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Stanly County DAV. He loved panning for gold and raised ornamental birds.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Lambert Cagle in 2001; four brothers, Johnny Cagle, Robert Cagle, James Cagle and Marvin Cagle; a sister, Beulah Morton; and grandchildren, Misty Cagle, Julie Wilkinson and Glenn Wilkinson.
He is survived by two sons, Lewis Cagle and Mike Barbee, both of Albemarle; five daughters, Phyllis Parker of Badin, Virginia Eury and Martha Ann Poplin, both of Albemarle, Bertha Lorene Bost of New London and Bonnie Williams of Richfield; a brother, Billy Cagle of Palm Bay, Fla.; five sisters, Louise Burleson of Albemarle, Dupree Keel of Robersonville, Dora Lee Diaz of Jacksonville, Betty Adams of Rockingham and Helen Hatley of Charlotte; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
