James Edward Haden
CONCORD - James Edward Haden, 87, of Concord, died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast. He had been in declining health for several years and seriously ill for two weeks. Formerly of Salisbury, he had made his home at Morningside Assisted Living for the past three years.
Born December 24, 1919, in Rowan County, Mr. Haden was the son of the late John Nelson Haden and Mae Armfield Haden. He was a 1937 graduate of Boyden High School and a 1941 graduate of Catawba College. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Haden was a former Rowan County Tax Collector and later retired from Federal Pacific Electric Company in Albemarle. He was a member of Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Post 342 in Salisbury.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lois Hoffman Haden, who died February 27, 2002; and by a brother, Nelson Haden, who was listed as MIA during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Haden Reavis and husband Gary of Kannapolis; a grandson, Grayson Isenberg of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; a sister, Ethel Haden White and husband Edmund of Henderson; and a brother, William C. Haden and wife Carolyn of Asheboro.
Service: A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury. Pastor Rich Szekely will officiate.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5-7 tonight at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis.
