Mildred B. Simerson
ROCKWELL -- Mildred Barger Brown Simerson, 91, Rockwell, died Wednesday (Jan. 7, 2004) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
Born Feb. 3, 1912, in Rowan County, Mrs. Simerson was a daughter of the late John and Nettie Rodgers Barger. She was educated in the Crescent and Granite Quarry schools.
A member of Faith Lutheran Church, she retired from Cannon Mills Plant 1 sheet department.
Her first husband, Arthur "Honky" Brown, died April 5, 1954; and her second husband, Sidney Simerson, died Oct. 29, 1991.
Survivors include daughters Phyllis Vanhoy, Faith, and Frankie Vanhoy, Judy Medlin and Brenda Kluttz, all of Rockwell; stepsons Donald and Kirby Simerson, both of Churchland, and Richard Simerson, Concord; stepdaughter Maxine Brooks, Southmont; brother Craig Barger, Faith; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Faith Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Loyd Ginn. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 12-1 p.m. Saturday in the church fellowship hall. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Judy Medlin, Rockwell.
Memorials: Faith Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 669, Faith, NC 28041.
