Claudette Overcash Brown
Claudette Overcash Brown, 86, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury after a period of declining health.
She was born March 5, 1937 in Rowan County to the late Manlius Lee and Ruth Castor Overcash. She was a 1955 graduate of China Grove High School and a 1976 graduate of Rowan Technical Institute with an associate degree in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Brown retired after 29 years as a Teacher Assistant with the Rowan Salisbury School System. Most of these years were at Granite Quarry Elementary School. She belonged to the Association of Teacher Assistants and the N.C. Retired Governmental Employee Association.
A member of Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, Mrs. Brown belonged to AARP, the Garden Club and the Center's Fitness programs.
A life-long member of Organ Lutheran Church, she was a choir member for many years, attended Sunday School and many other church activities. She attended St. John's Lutheran Church's Golden Opportunity Club.
In addition to her parents, Claudette was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence Overcash and Howard Overcash, and sisters, Gladys Wensil, Nell Overcash, Wilma Sells, Marguerite Shive and Zelia Padgett.
Claudette is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lane Clark Brown; sons, Monty Ryan Brown and wife Terri of Salisbury and Mark Lane Brown and wife Tina of Rockwell; four grandchildren, Nathan (Carrie), Allison (Tim), Jenna (Dylan) and Carol (Tim); and many nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the Parlor at Organ Lutheran Church, Salisbury, NC.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Organ Lutheran Church, Salisbury, NC, with Rev. Tonya Brittain, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Organ Lutheran Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Organ Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
