Elaine Shaw Kirk Williams, age 86, died May 3, 2012 on her 43rd wedding anniversary to Carl Williams.
She was born in Lexington, NC. She attended Appalachian State Teachers College and worked at the music library at Appalachian and lived in Boone for many years. After the death of her first husband, she met Carl at the Boone United Methodist Church, married and moved to Rutherfordton NC, where she taught elementary school.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, John Z. Kirk, Jr, sons Steven Paul and John Thomas "Tommy" Kirk, step mother Kathleen Shaw and her second husband Carl C. Williams.
Surviving are her daughters Sandra Kirk of Wilmington, Lori Key and husband Dana of Greensboro and step-children, Carl E Williams and wife Susan, Jim Williams and wife Charlene, Christy Davis and husband Artie, Louis Williams and wife Patty. She also is survived by 15 grandchildren, Steven, Patrick and Katie Walker, Ben and John Robertson, Brad Williams, Elana, Josh and Solen Williams, Emerson, Anders and Liza Davis, Reece Williams, and Rijn and Daryl Key.
A Celebration of Life service was held at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel in Boone, NC, officiated by Pastor Brian Cornell. Burial in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens.
