SALISBURY - Mr. Joe Edmond Williams, 64, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at his residence.
Joe was born Feb. 6, 1946, in Rowan County, the son of the late Elmo P. Williams and Evelyn Wyrick Williams.
Joe was a 1964 graduate of East Rowan High School. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, two years in the U.S. Marine Corps, 18-1/2 years in the North Carolina National Guard; and retired from the W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
Joe was a member of the Salisbury Christian Fellowship and the Marine Corps Association. He enjoyed working on and restoring old cars and spending time with friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Dale Williams.
Survivors include wife Diane House Williams, whom he married Aug. 18, 1969; son Darin Scott Williams of the home; brothers Mike Williams and Billy Williams of Salisbury; sisters Mary Page and Carol Hardy and husband Carl of Raleigh.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell.
Funeral Services: 2 p.m. Friday, April 23 at Salisbury Christian Fellowship conducted by Dr. Don Vess, senior pastor, and Dr. Lawrence Lee, founding pastor.
Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell, with Military Graveside Rites by the N.C. National Guard.
