GREENSBORO - Cordell James Shepherd, 72, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Camden Place Nursing and Rehabilitation.
A native of Salisbury, he was a son of the late Dolph C. and Mary M. Shepherd and had lived in Greensboro since 1960. He retired from Olympic Products, a division of Cone Mills Corporation, with 42 years of service.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Cordell enjoyed spending time at High Rock Lake and being outdoors.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Janet Marsh Shepherd; daughter Margaret Shepherd Woodrum of Summerfield; son James "Jim" Edward Shepherd and wife Emily of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Stephanie Shepherd Jackson and husband Jim, Logan Woodrum and Lucas Woodrum; brothers Lee and Charlie Shepherd; and sister Mary Ann Oakley.
Service: The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at Guilford College United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen Haines officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Salisbury.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1 at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel, 5926 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro.
Memorials: May be made to Guilford College United Methodist Church, 1205 Fleming Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.
