RICHFIELD -- Spurgeon Durant Pickler, 76, 30051 Daybrook Drive, died Monday (May 10, 2004) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.
Born Nov. 8, 1927, in Stanly County, Mr. Pickler was a son of the late Travis D. and Minnie Morgan Pickler. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Retired from Wiscassett Mills, Albemarle, he was a dye weigher. He was a member of Richfield Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife Betty Joyce Tucker Pickler; daughter Amy Sedberry, Richfield; sisters Syrella Pickler, Richfield, and Mildred Ward, Easley, S.C.; and five grandchildren.
Services: Memorial, 3 p.m. Sunday, Antioch Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Gene Sides and the Rev. Joel Ervin. Military rites by Stanly County DAV Chapter 12.
Visitation: In the church fellowship hall after the service. At other times, the family will be at the home on Daybrook Drive.
