ROCKWELL - Mr. Ben Melvin Goodman, 81, of Rockwell, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Goodman was born Oct. 24, 1932, son of the late Roy Leonard Goodman and Mabel Goodman Goodman.
Mr. Goodman attended the Rowan County schools and had retired as a truck driver for Atlantic Oil. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Daniel Goodman; daughter Barbara Kay Goodman Linker; sisters Nell Goodman Bryant and Linda Louise Goodman; and one grandchild.
Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife, Norma Drye Goodman; son Michael Dean Goodman and wife Christy of Rockwell; daughter Kathy G. Tolbert and significant other Randy Douglas of Rockwell; brothers Gwynn Goodman and wife Linda Goodman and Jim Goodman; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He is also survived by special loved ones Lynn Linker, Kay R. Linker, Ben E. Tolbert, Ron Boss, Angela Boss, Terry Bromby, Shirley Goodman and Jason Williams.
Service: A memorial service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell on Sunday Sept. 28 at 3:30 p.m. conducted by Pastor John Houghton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
