Mrs. Jewel "Kim" Johnson Hughes, 58, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at her residence. She was born April 3, 1956, in Rowan County, to the late Harry and Mary Alice Fesperman Johnson.
Kim attended South Rowan High School and was a homemaker. A member of Faith Independent Baptist Church in Mooresville, she enjoyed crocheting, spending time at the lake, and traveling to the mountains.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Daniel G. Hughes, Sr.; son, Daniel G. Hughes, Jr.; daughter, Kathleen Victoria Calais and husband, Joe; granddaughters, Sarah E. Hughes, Christianna N. Sechler, and Kimberly A. Calais; and grandson, Matthew J. Calais.
The family will receive friends, Friday, June 13 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 14 at 12:00 PM at Trinity Wesleyan Church in Salisbury, conducted by Rev. Randy Addison, pastor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6520 North Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309-2130.
