Jean Elizabeth Hill Lefler
SALISBURY - Jean Elizabeth Hill Lefler, 66, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
Jean was born December 6, 1941, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Frank Eugene Hill and Marie Ketchie Hill. Jean was a 1959 graduate of East Rowan High School and a 1963 graduate of Appalachian Teachers College. Jean had taught second, fifth and sixth grades at Granite Quarry Elementary School.
Jean was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockwell and attended Liberty United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, loved to bake all kinds of cakes and loved spending time with friends and family and her cat, "Revco."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Dean Lefler, on December 2, 1995, whom she had married February 25, 1967.
Survivors include daughters Deanna Lefler and Cindy Lefler of Salisbury; brother Dennis Hill and wife Janet of Gold Hill; grandchild Cameron Lee Thomas; nephew Eric Hill of Gold Hill; and niece Amber Hill of Delaware.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, February 23.
Funeral Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, February 24 at Liberty United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Brad Cunningham, Pastor and Rev. Fred Hill. Burial will be at the First Baptist Church of Rockwell cemetery following the service.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407; or Rowan County Relay for Life, c/o Freda Martin, 7789 Stokes Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
