Evelyn Ludwick Booker

Evelyn Ludwick Booker, 94 formerly of 229 Rocklawn Avenue, Danville, VA passed away on May 4, 2013 at Dosher Nursing Center in Southport, NC.

Mrs. Booker was born on December 19, 1918 in the China Grove Community of Rowan County, NC a daughter to the late William Lawson Ludwick and Annie Cope Ludwick. She was the youngest and last survivor of thirteen children.

Mrs. Booker attended Brown High School in Kannapolis, NC where she was living when she met Ray Jackson Booker. They were married on December 18, 1937 and moved to Danville where they lived 60 wonderful years together. Mr. Booker died on February 14, 1998.

Mrs. Booker was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church where she had formerly taught Sunday school, she was a former choir member and she had helped prepare many Wednesday night meals. She was also a Hospice volunteer for a number of years.

Mrs. Booker is survived by one son Jan Norman Booker and wife Janet of Danville, VA, one daughter Bonnie B. Kinzer and husband Joe of Southport, NC, three grandchildren Joe Kinzer, Jr. of Southport, NC, Amy Garner of Hickory, NC, Kevin Booker of Roanoke, VA and four great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Moffett Memorial Baptist Church by the Reverend Lee Ellison. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.
