Ruby A. Basinger
SALISBURY - Ruby Mae Agner Basinger, 87, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Autumn Care of Salisbury.
Ruby was born July 2, 1926, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Joseph and Abbie Pearl Agner. Ruby was a graduate of Rockwell High School and had worked for and retired from Celanese.
She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Ruby enjoyed quilting, knitting and gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and all of her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Basinger; brothers Leroy, Marvin, Curtis, Carl and Fred Agner; and sister Kathleen Earnhardt.
Ruby is survived by her sons, Danny Basinger and wife Pam of Walton, Ky.,and Alan Basinger and wife Alison of Salisbury; sisters Louise Goodman and Rachel Wagoner; grandchildren Ashley Minton and husband Mark and Josh Basinger and wife Carol; great-grandchildren Anna, Amelia, Sam, Isabella and Jack.
Service: There will be a Graveside Service Monday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. at Rowan Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Mike Shoaf, pastor of Nazareth Community Church.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 23 at Powles Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Joyce Earnhardt and Mary Lee Ketchie. The family also wishes to thank the staff of Autumn Care.
Memorials: May be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105; or Aubrey Rose Foundation, 3862 Race Road, Cincinnati OH 45211.
