Mary Catherine Moss Kirkman

CHINA GROVE – Mrs. Mary Catherine Moss Kirkman, 80 of China Grove, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

Born on July 1, 1937 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Barney Reid and Catherine Cranford Moss. She was a 1955 graduate of Richfield High School.

Mrs. Kirkman retired after 35 years of service from Fieldcrest Cannon Mills. She attended and was active at Southside Baptist Church. She loved to play Bingo at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center and enjoyed the company of her pet dog, Sassy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband of 41 years, Clyde L. Kirkman, granddaughter Baby Michaela Lawlor; brothers, Johnny, Jake and Albert Moss, as well as sister Margie VonCannon.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Ricky L. Kirkman Sr. (Crystal) of Salisbury; daughters, Rita Lawlor (Greg) of Faith; Sherry Eller (Frank) of Salisbury and Cathy Hawkins of Landis. She was also survived by her brother Nelson Moss (Lou) of Grover, S.C., and sisters Emma Sloop of China Grove, Joyce Roberts of Salisbury, Frances Lomax of Misenheimer and Edna Owens of Gold Hill. Her grandchildren include, Amber Lawlor, Rick Kirkman Jr., Ashley Thorton (Josh), Amanda Kirkman (fiance' Chris Moore), Amy Kirkman, Brandy Henry (Brad), Justin Eller and Mariah Hawkins, as well as great-grandchildren Cole Chaudhury, Kennedy Kirkman, Barrett Thompson, Aubree Thompson and Ruby Lynnox Henry.

Visitation and Service: Visitation Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. also at the funeral home with Rev. Robin Albright, minister. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faithful Friends, or Southside Baptist Church.
