CHINA GROVE -- The funeral will be Friday for Kesler Lee Howard, 87, 118 Chippewa Trail, who died Tuesday (June 25, 2002)at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born March 21, 1915, in Stanly County, Mr. Howard, a son of the late Robert and Safrona Little Howard, was a graduate of Richfield High School. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of VFW.

A former lineman with Duke Power Co., he retired as manager of the China Grove branch. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher and superintendent.

Past master of Eureka Lodge 283, he was a member of Oasis Temple Shrine and Scottish Rites.

Survivors include wife Hattie Mae Morgan Howard; sons Clyde Eugene Howard, China Grove, and Donald Lee Howard, Harmony; brother Virgil Howard, High Point; sister Thetis Morgan, High Point; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Steve Wilson. Burial,West Lawn Memorial Park. Masonic graveside rites.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove. At other times, the family will be at the home on Chippewa Trail.
