Notes for Kay Frances Correll
Kay C. Schaefer

SNOW HILL - Kay Correll Schaefer went to her heavenly home on Friday, March 22, 2013.

A Service of Remembrance will be held Monday, March 25, at Hull Road Original Free Will Baptist Church in Snow Hill with Reverend Leon Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow at the New Hull Road Church Cemetery.

A native of Rowan County, Kay was born the daughter of the late Jack and Eva Correll.

Kay lived with the joy of the Lord in her heart and her life. She loved her church family at Hull Road OFWB Church. A person with a caring and generous heart, Kay volunteered with Meals on Wheels and never met a stranger. Kay found great pleasure in working with her son and helping customers at the garden center of Ace Hardware of Snow Hill. She loved flowers and earned her certificate as a Master Gardner.

Kay worked for many years with the Rowan County Register of Deeds. She founded Kasey Jewelry and co-founded Heritage Restorations of Denton where she loved restoring furniture with her husband, Wayne.

Kay is survived by her husband, Wayne Schaefer; son, Wess Schaefer; daughter-in-law, Hope Schaefer; and the light of her life, her grandson, Corbett Schaefer. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Jean Crowder and husband, Phil of Statesville; brothers, Thomas Correll and wife, PG of Salisbury and Larry Correll and wife, Ruth of Hilton Head, SC; sister-in-law, Retta Rice of Statesville; and many special nieces and nephews.

Kay was a true Proverbs 31 woman; "a virtuous woman whose price is far above rubies".

The family will receive friends on Monday following the service and other times at the residence.
