PLEASANT GARDEN— Mr. Harold Richard Rummage, 84, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 19, 2004, at his home. He had been in declining health for several years.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Albemarle at Anderson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Vernon Williams and the Rev. Michael Barrett will officiate.
Mr. Rummage was born in Stanley County on June 4, 1919. He married Hazel Shaver on April 27, 1940 and moved to Pleasant Garden in 1941. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Infantry, European Theater. He operated H.R. Rummage Construction Company for over 44 years and maintained a farm until 2003.
Mr. Rummage was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Anderson Rummage and Rose Leonard Rummage, brothers, Clyde, Elcie, Earl and Floyd Rummage, sisters, Eula R. Blake, Lillie R. Russell, and infant, Gladys Faye Rummage.
Surviving Mr. Rummage is his wife, Hazel Shaver Rummage of the home; daughters, Gladys Faye R. Tidwell and husband, Don, Kym R. Edwards and husband, Philip; grandchildren, Michael Tidwell and wife, Tracey, John Tidwell and wife, Michelle, Tonya Tidwell, Eric and Katie Edwards; brothers, James and Jay Rummage; sisters, Nora R. Shaver, Winnie Rummage and Lucille R. Story.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden.
