CHINA GROVE - Norman Eugene Albright, 71, of China, died Nov. 2, 2009, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, Winston-Salem, following a period of declining health.

Born Oct. 23, 1938, in Rowan County to the late Cecil and Kate Morgan Albright, he was a graduate of China Grove High School. He began a dairy farm on his land, then was called into duty for the U.S. Army. Norman worked for 18 years for Hoechst- Celanese as a machine operator before retiring.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Bessie Mae Dodson Albright; stepson Glenn Aland; stepdaughters Beverly Aland, Cheryl Freeze and Shelia Aland; grandchildren Hubert Aland and Naomi Self; great-grandchildren Levi Norton and Jon Quick.

Survivors include granddaughter Jada Ware Guy (Cedric), Charlotte; grandson Joshua Norton, China Grove; brothers Frank Albright and Sidney Albright, China Grove, Jim Albright, Rockwell; sister Catherine Wolfingbarger of Mount Airy; stepson Clinton Aland of Bessemer City; stepdaughters Maxine Aland of Garden City, S.C., Brenda McFee of South Carolina, Roseanne Aland of Gastonia; 22 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

Service: 11 a.m. Friday at Thyatira Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Sandra Kern. Interment to follow in church cemetery with military graveside rights.

Visitation: 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, and at other times, at the home of Catherine Wolfingbarger, 3990 Patterson Road, China Grove.
