Buddy Allman

Robert (Buddy) E Lee Allman 85, Passed away February 6, 2013 at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC from an extended illness.

Funeral service will be 10:00am Saturday at Gordon Funeral Home officiated by Elder Rom Kerley, burial will follow at Herrin’s Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Allman family will receive friends from 9-10am Saturday prior to the funeral service.

He was born December 6, 1927 in Cabarrus County son of the late John R. and Stella Almond Allman.

Robert E Lee Allman was a World War II veteran serving for two years operating heavy machinery in Fort Benning, Georgia. Upon discharge from the army in 1947, he worked for the Soil and Water Conservation and then went to work at Stone Wall Jackson Training School. He became self-employed in 1965 with Allman Grading. He ran Allman Grading until 1990 when he passed it on to his son Jeff while continuing to help run the business.

Robert was an avid outdoor lover. He loved teaching his grandson how to operate machinery and work on the farm. On summer days you could find him tending to his many animals or lounging by his pond fishing. In Robert’s later years if you could not find him at home, he was puttering around in his John Deere Gator.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Moss Allman.

Robert is survived by only son, Jeffery Lee Allman. He is also survived by older sister, Geraldeen A. Eagle, younger brother,Tommy Joe Allman and two Grandchildren, Darrell Lee and Brittany Ann Allman.
