MOUNT PLEASANT - Mr. Gene M. Eagle, 77, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, May 11, 2007, at his residence. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, conducted by the Rev. James White. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Eagle family will receive friends from 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Gordon Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant.
Mr. Eagle was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Cabarrus County, the son of Carl H. Eagle and Callie Fink Eagle. He was very devoted to and loved his family; he also enjoyed spending time at Cherry Grove Beach. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of The Holy Trinity, where he had served on church council and the property committee. He was the owner/operator of Eagle's Grocery Store, Eagle Oil Company and had served as chairman of the Mount Pleasant ABC Board. He was a Korean War veteran, and was awarded with two bronze stars.
He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Eagle.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Dry Eagle; son, Chris Eagle of Clemmons; daughter, Jill Goforth of Hudson; and grandchildren, Megan Eagle, Chris Eagle Jr. and Hayes Eagle.
Memorials may be directed to Lutheran Church of The Holy Trinity, Mount Pleasant, or the American Cancer Society.
