Thursday, April 27, 2006 — Grady Gold Murray, 86, of 20661 Sam Road, Albemarle, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006, in Stanly Regional Medical Center.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Phillip Hunter and Elder David Anderson will officiate and burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakboro with miliary rites by DAV Chapter 12.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. At other times they will meet at the home.
Born Feb. 18, 1920, in Stanly County , he was a son of the late Gold A. and Minnie Lambert Murray and was a retired textile worker/lab technician. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the DAV and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, Sunday School superintendent and church clerk.
He is survived by his wife, Odessa Burris Murray of the home; a daughter, Pat Mauldin and husband, Alvin, of Albemarle; two grandchildren, Deedie Sarif and husband Nick, and Robin Herlocker, all of Albemarle; two great-grandsons, Grayson Sarif and Chase Sarif; a brother, Dewell Murray of Oakboro; and two sisters, Odessa Treece of Mt. Pleasant and Bessie Mae Huneycutt of Beaufort, NC.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Clyde, Joe, Charles, Ike, Tom and Rubin Murray.
