Hilda B. Beck

FAITH - Hilda Idel Barger Beck, 82, went to be with her Heavenly Father on the 17th of June 2013 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury, after a short illness, but death was unexpected. She was the daughter of the late Zelia Ione Fink and Roy Leon Barger.

Hilda was born and grew up in Faith. She attended Granite Quarry High School in Granite Quarry. After high school she worked at various sewing manufacturers as a seamstress and retired from Carolina Maid Industries in 1995. After retirement, she joined her husband at Faith Radio and TV.

Hilda was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockwell. She served as organist, pianist and Sunday School teacher for over 40 years and up to the time of passing. She was a wonderful mother and wife. She also enjoyed camping, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild, Geoffrey Michael Beck.

Hilda is survived by her spouse, Wentworth Beck of the home; children Robin Beck Mitchell and husband Tommy of Faith and son Darin Beck and partner Craig Peay of Kannapolis; grandchildren Chad Mitchell and wife Allison, Alesha Virden and husband Jason, Matthew Mitchell and Colbie Beck; brothers Dennis L. Barger and wife Sylvia and Dane Barger and wife Sharon; sisters-in-law Julia Beck Owen and Phyllis Basinger Beck; great-grandchildren Taya Thomas, Louie Virden, Alexandria Mitchell and Alice Mitchell.

Visitation: A visitation will be held at Powles Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 19 from 6-8:30 p.m.

Service: A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church of Rockwell, 8630 Hillcrest Drive at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 20. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the residence at all other times.

Memorials: Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Rockwell, Building Fund.
