Robert Glenn Chastain
Robert Glenn Chastain, 85, of Salisbury went to be the Lord on Sunday, August 20th, 2017 at VA Hospice House of Salisbury.
Born in Royston, GA September 11th, 1931, he the son of the late Joseph Paul Chastain and Vassey Lou Jordan Chastain.
He attended Rowan County Schools. He served 14 years in the US Army and served in the Korean War. He worked as a Food Service manager until retirement. He was also a member of the VFW Post 3006 and the AMVET Post 845 in Rockwell.
Robert married his beautiful wife Rita Taylor on June 24, 1978 who is left to cherish his memory. He is survived by two sons Steve Chastain and wife Cindy of Norwood, NC, Chris Chastain of Albemarle, one stepson James Robert Webb and Nancy of Salisbury, one daughter Rhondi Chastain Martin and husband Kenny of Albemarle, one brother Balus Chastain and wife Margaret of Asheville. He had five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Tabernacle on Stokes Ferry Rd of Salisbury.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children Gaynell Frick and son David Glenn Chastain.
Visitation: 11:00am-1:00pm on Thursday, August 24th, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle. Service will be on Thursday, August 24th, 2017 at 1:00pm. at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle conducted by Rev. Steve Holshouser and Assoc. Brian Vanderford. Inurnment will be on Monday, August 28th, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Salisbury National Cemetery and military honors will be accorded by the Lyerly Funeral Home Volunteer Honor Guard.
