BC Trexler

SALISBURY - BC Trexler, passed away on May 13, 2013, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a role model as a loving father, husband and church leader.

Mr. Trexler was born Dec. 28, 1925. He was the son of the late Paul A. and Oma Gladys Eagle Trexler. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Clary.

Mr. Trexler is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Minick Trexler; son Mark Trexler and wife Julie of Marshall, Texas; daughters Crystal Clary and husband Kent of Waynesville, Lori Marchiando and husband Joe of Morrisville and Amy Cozart and husband Kent of Rockwell. Surviving grandchildren are Ashley Trexler, Marianne Butler and husband Adam, Hannah Rose Clary, Liberty and Abby Cozart, Jack and Emma Marchiando; one great-grandchild, Max Butler; and sister Frances Trexler of Granite Quarry.

BC graduated from Granite Quarry High School in 1943. He received his Associate Degree in 1948 from Pfeiffer Junior College, where he met the love of his life, Mary Ellen Minick. They were married on Aug. 19, 1951. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

In 1950, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Bowling Green Business University in Bowling Green, Ky. BC was a CLU agent for AXA Equitable Life Assurance Society for over 30 years before retiring.

He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He visited many foreign countries and most of the 50 states.

He was a life-long member of Christiana Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for many years.

BC was an avid sportsman and a dedicated member of the Rowan County Wildlife Association. He was also a former member of Salisbury Jaycees and Granite Quarry Civitan Club.

He loved attending family reunions, especially at White Lake every Labor Day. His favorite pastimes included bird watching, fishing, camping and telling a great joke.

He always took special pleasure in sharing his love of the outdoors with his wife, four children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 15 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Service: The Funeral service will be held at Christiana Lutheran Church on Thursday, May 16 at 3 p.m. conducted by Rev. Carl Haynes, pastor. The burial will be in Christiana Lutheran Church Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Matt Clary Memorial Baseball Scholarship, Greater Cleveland County Schools' Educational Foundation, Kings Mountain, NC; or Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, Salisbury, NC.
