Thursday, April 25, 2013 — Keith Nichols Carter, age 90, of Albemarle, died at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle.

His funeral was at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Canton Baptist Church, Albemarle. Pastor Mark Mabry and Rev. John Giddens officiated and burial was in Canton Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends at Canton Baptist Church fellowship hall following the service on Thursday.

Born July 18, 1922, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Carl A. Carter and Mae Mason Carter.

He was a graduate of Endy High School. He was a retired employee of Collins & Aikman Corp. and a member of Canton Baptist Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was a member of Stanly Lodge #348 A.F. & A.M. and a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was closest to his family and friends.

Mr. Carter was married to the late Jewel Almond Carter who preceded him in death in 1992.

Survivors include one daughter, Cristy Carter Giddens and husband John of Albemarle; four grandchildren, Joseph Jordan Adkins Jr. and wife Nancee and daughter Ellyn; Nikki Parris Thompson and husband Rich and daughter Carter and son Michael; Chad David Gallimore and wife Kristi and daughter Haleigh and Keith Cassidy Gallimore; and four great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Cheri Carter Parris, preceded him in death in 1991. Two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, or Canton Baptist Church.

Stanly Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
