Patty Parks Swaringen
SALISBURY - Patty Parks Swaringen, 74, of Salisbury, died peacefully Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at her home in Frederick, Md., after a courageous battle with lung disease.
Born March 1, 1935, in Woodleaf, she was the daughter of the late Arthur W. and Donnie Pierce Parks. She was educated in the Woodleaf schools.
The most enjoyable and important role Pat had was that of a mother, then grandmother, and later as a great-grandmother. She was also employed for Erik Anders, Salisbury Manufacturing, and Tri-State Medical Supply before retiring.
For the past two years, Pat lived with her sister-in-law, Hilda Hutcheson in Maryland and was loved and cared for by Hilda and her children and their families.
She was a member of Sherrills Ford Baptist Church. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
Her husband, Luther Allen Swaringen preceded her in death on May 25, 2005.
Pat is survived by her children, David Dwiggins and wife Janna of Mesa, Ariz., Richard Dwiggins of Salisbury, and Karen Boger of Mocksville; step-children, Ricky Allan Swaringen and wife Stacy of Capistrano Beach, Calif., Debbie Hilton and husband Arnold of Oakboro, and Darla Carriker and husband Nelson of Albemarle; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren..
Funeral Services: 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, Summersett Memorial Chapel, Rev. Harold Hughes, of Sherrills Ford Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, Summersett Funeral Home.
Memorials: Sherrills Ford Baptist Church, 6455 Sherrills Ford Road, Salisbury, NC.
