Mary Pickler Stevens

Mary (Wezzie) Pickler Stevens, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at her home. She was born Nov. 22, 1933, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Carl H. Pickler and Geneva Bostian Pickler.

Wezzie was a 1952 graduate of the former Rockwell High School. Wezzie was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Label Room Dept. in the Sewing Room for 44 years until her retirement. She loved to go to the beach and enjoyed bowling. Wezzie had a strong love for her husband, Jack, and they were married for 50 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Carl Pickler Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Stevens; two sisters, Joan (Doug) Brines and Patty White, both of Concord; a brother-in-law, Steve White of Gold Hill; a nephew, Ray Carl Pickler Jr. and wife Vickie of Rockwell; a niece, Jill Ann Pickler Platt and husband Ray of Salisbury; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Sharon Holt, RN, and Layfonia P. Mayhew, CNA, both of Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their care shone to Weezie during her illness.

Arrangements: The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 3 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. Howard Tyas. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. The family will be at the residence the remainder of the time.

Memorials: May be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
