Gertrude Basinger Sapp
Gertrude Basinger Sapp passed away on April 8, 2018 at the Kiser Hospice House. She was born on September 25, 1935, in Rowan County to the late Raymond Gayhart Basinger and Lucille Sides Basinger.
Gertrude worked for Cannon Mills and Oakwood Mobile Homes before retiring. She was a member of West Park Baptist Church in Rockwell.
Gertrude is preceded in death by not only her parents, by her husband, Robert Wayne Sapp, and four of her brothers, R.G. Basinger Jr., Melvin Douglas Basinger, Harry Graham Basinger, and Perry Dean Basinger.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four sons, Gary Wayne Sapp (Carol), of Concord, N.C., Tim Sapp (Elaine), of Rockwell, N.C., Jeff Sapp and Robbie Sapp, both of Rockwell, N.C. Gertrude had four grandchildren, Tracy Christenbury, Stacy Sapp, Jeremy Sapp, and Tristen Sapp, as well as four great-grandchildren, Abagail, Anthony, Hunter, and Tate. She had two brothers, John Basinger (Kay), of Salisbury, and Tony A. Basinger (Diane), of Rockwell. There are five sister, Melba Pickler, of Rockwell, N.C., Virginia Long, of Gastonia, N.C., Kay Peele, of Salisbury, N.C., Judy Leazer (Joe), of Salisbury, N.C., and Sally Thompson (W.L.), of Salisbury, N.C. Gertrude also had a brother-in-law, Bruce Sapp (Sharon). Of Salisbury, N.C., and a sister-in-law, Grace Sapp. And a number of nieces and nephews, and her precious pet, “Ru-Ru“.
Visitation for Gertrude will be Wednesday, April 11, 2018, from 7:00-9:00 P.M., at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Service will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 1:00 P.M., in the Chapel of Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, with Pastor Seacrest from West Park Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest, following her service, in Brookhill Memorial Gardens, in Rockwell.
Memorials may be made to the family at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, West Park Baptist Church, and Kiser Hospice House.
