Margaret Gill Martin 

MIDWAY — A beautiful southern lady, Margaret Gill Martin, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 10 surrounded by her loving family. 

Margaret was born January 5, 1919 in Clyde, Ga., and was one of ten children of W.W. Gill and Maggie Gill. She moved to Richmond Hill when Camp Stewart purchased their property and graduated from Ways High School in 1935. On March 12, 1939, she married the love of her life, W.J. Bill Martin, Jr. and they were successful entrepreneurs in real estate and other ventures. They are best remembered for the fun times at Martin's Fish Ponds. 

Margaret enjoyed a happy full life including cooking for everyone who graced her door, fishing, hunting, family trips, travel with friends and oil painting. She was a member of the Midway United Methodist Church where she was active in Happy Hearts, United Methodist Women, Alpha Sunday School Class and served in various capacities over the years. 

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, nine siblings, her only son Billy and her husband Bill. All her life she continued to bless all of those around her with her love and generosity. 

Survivors: her daughters Barbara Martin and David Sanders of Sunbury, Carolyn and Dr. Julian Kelly of Savannah and Brenda and Don Crawford of Sunbury are left to cherish her love and memories. One brother Lewis Weitz Gill of Richmond Hill. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jimmy (Susan) Martin, Gill Martin, Kathy (Greg) Poole, Kerry (Smith) Bryce, Jim (Zandra) Welch, Martin (Kathy) Welch, Hope (Jorma) McCary, Will Victor and Frederic (Abby) Victor, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Throughout her life she maintained a loving relationship with her numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends. 

Visitation was held on March 14 from 1-3p.m. at Midway United Methodist Church. Her funeral services were Wednesday, March 14, at 3 p.m. at the Midway United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Walker and Rev. David Turner officiating. Burial followed at Dorchester Cemetery. 

Pallbearers were: grandsons Jimmy Martin, Gill Martin, Jim Welch, Martin Welch, Will Victor and Frederic Victor.

Honorary Pallbearers: Alpha Sunday School Class and Happy Hearts.

Remembrances can be made to the Midway United Methodist Church, Midway, Georgia.
