Thursday, March 15, 2012 — Margaret Lucille Huneycutt Burris, age 83, of Locust, N.C., died at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast, Concord, N.C.
The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. The body will remain at the funeral home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the hour of the service.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Mission Baptist Church, Locust, N.C. Rev. Jeremy Hyde will officiate and burial will be in Mission Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born May 14, 1928 in Stanly County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Adam McDonald and Hester Jane Smith Huneycutt.
She was a graduate of Oakboro High School and a graduate of Stanly Technical School where she received a Nursing Assistant Certificate. She was a homemaker and a member of Mission Baptist Church, Locust. She was active in her church as long as her health permitted. She was very involved with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Burris was married to the late Charles Lee Burris who preceded her in death in 2009.
Survivors include one son, Danny C. Burris of Locust; three daughters, Pamela B. Little of Missoula, Mont., Debra B. Hinson and Tammy B. Harwood, both of Locust; one brother, Adam McDonald Honeycutt Jr. of Kannapolis; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was also survived by a number of loving nieces and nephews.
One daughter, Marsha Carol Burris, preceded her in death.
