Betty Ruth Holshouser Shuping

Betty Ruth Holshouser Shuping, 83, of Rockwell, passed away on July 8, 2015 at the Meadows of Rockwell surrounded by family. She was born on February 28, 1932 in Rowan County to the late Charles Holshouser and Ada Crump Danner Holshouser.

Betty was a 1950 graduate of Granite Quarry High School and worked as a Bookkeeper. She enjoyed needlework and woodcarving and being a full time mom. She loved working in her flower gardens and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Clifford Paul Shuping of Rockwell; a daughter, Carolyn Hess and husband Tom of Salisbury; a son, Robbie Holshouser of Rockwell; grandchildren, Carrie McKinney and husband Joshua, Jeremy Sides and wife Monica, and Rob Holshouser and wife Carrie, Telley Hess and wife Sundee; great grandchildren, Isla McKinney, Finn McKinney, Kendall Miller, Logan Holshouser, Tyler Gormish, Parker Hess and Emerson Hess.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11:00AM for her friends and family at the Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC (501 Statesville Blvd) conducted by Jeremy Sides.

The family will be at the home of Carolyn Hess the remainder of the time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, 720 Grove St., Salisbury, NC.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Gary Fink and his staff as well as the entire staff at the Meadows of Rockwell and Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care for their excellent care given to Mrs. Shuping during her illness.
