Mary Katherine Kirk Burris
Mary Katherine Kirk Burris, 87, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019. Her funeral service will be Friday February 15, 2019 at 2 PM in the Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care Chapel of Albemarle with Rev. Joe Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Richfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM prior to the service.
Katherine was born July 3, 1931 in Richfield, NC and was the daughter of the late Jodie Edward Kirk and Bertha Ada Drye Kirk. After graduating from Richfield High School, she worked in various textiles and manufacturing jobs ranging from a seamstress to mechanic and forklift driver.
Mrs. Burris was preceded in death by her husband Dwight W. Burris. Survivors include two sons, Ron Burris (Lisa) of Albemarle, NC and David Burris (Terry) of Charlotte, NC; daughter Teresa Diane Burris Dilling (Eugene) of Charlotte, NC; brother, Richard Kirk of Richfield, NC; sister, Louise Kirk Wilson of China Grove, NC; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mary was also preceded in death by a daughter Debra Elizabeth Burris on July 17, 1954; two brothers, Charlie Kirk and Lewis Kirk, and a sister, Lucille Kirk Hamilton.
