Milburn Ray "Bud" Leonard

Milburn Ray "Bud" Leonard, 89, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024.

He was born July 23, 1934, in Rowan County, to the late Milburn Aster Leonard and Dorothy Lucille Frick Leonard. Mr. Leonard attended Rockwell Elementary School, Newport News, VA schools, and was as 1952 Graduate of Rockwell High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of American Legion Post 107. Mr. Leonard retired from Carolina Stalite in Gold Hill, where he was a loader operator. He loved collecting antique hit-and-miss engines and passed that love along to his son and grandson; together, they enjoyed traveling throughout the country to different shows, but he especially loved the Threshers Reunion in Denton.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Hazel Wilson Leonard, who passed away February 11, 2014; and his sister, Peggy Simpson.

He is survived by his son, Tony Ray Leonard and wife, Chrystel, of Rockwell; grandson, Daniel Ray Leonard and wife, Savannah, of Salisbury; great-granddaughter, Braelynn Ray Leonard; great-grandson who is expected soon, Ryder Scott Leonard; brother, Gene Leonard of Gold Hill; and many special nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM on Friday, January 26, at Powles Staton Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Dean Hunter officiating.
