SALISBURY - Mr. David Earl Wagoner, 93, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Salisbury.

He was born Dec. 1, 1917, in Stanly County, a son of the late David Edd Wagoner and Eva Maie Frick Wagoner.

Educated at Richfield High School, Mr. Wagoner was a veteran having served with the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a supervisor with China Grove Mills, Newberry Mills, Burlington Mills and retired from Fiber Industries in the Maintenance Department after 14 years in 1981.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell and a member of Woodman of The World. Mr. Wagoner was one of the founders of Gold Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Carter Wagoner, on Dec. 29, 2002; four brothers, Raymond Wagoner, Spencer Wagoner, Beauford Wagoner and Bruce Wagoner; and two sisters, Ruby Wiles and Ethel Stancil.

Survivors include daughter Patricia W. Crawford and husband Edmond of Winston-Salem; brother Norman Wagoner and wife Barbara of Salisbury; three sisters, Pauline Lauchman of Salisbury, Rachel Shoaf and husband Gerald of Salisbury and Brenda Taylor of Rockwell; two grandchildren, David Crawford and wife Karen, John Crawford and wife Heather; and three great-grandchildren, Paxton, Hayden and Gaby Crawford.

Services: Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Baptist Church by Rev. John Hough-ton, pastor. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Baptist Church.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockwell Christian School, Rockwell, NC.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the North Carolina Veterans Home in Salisbury, as well as Dr. Yut Sukkasem and Dr. William D. Hoover.
