Tuesday, January 30, 2007 — Sarah Elizabeth Tucker Whitley, 85, of 16695 Silver Road, Oakboro, died at 8:35 pm. Saturday, Jan. 27. 2007, in Stanly Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. today with a 30-minute state in First Baptist Church of Oakboro, where she was a member. Dr. D. Terrell Watts officiated and burial was in Smith’s Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakboro.
Born May 21, 1921, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Monroe and Maggie Ellen Furr Tucker and was retired from the payroll department at C&A; in Norwood.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Marshall Lee Whitley of the home; a son, Marshall Whitley Jr. of Easley S.C.; a daughter, Cathy Ann Veazey and husband, Paul, of Charlottesville, Va.; two grandchildren, Susan Grace Harris and husband, Jay, of Orlando, Fla., and Lindsay Marion Veazey of Charlottesville, Va.; and special friends of the family, Wilson and Aileen Tarlton.
Memorials may be made Hospice of Stanly County.
