Jerry Herrin
Mr. Jerry Franklin Herrin, 81 years of age, of Mount Pleasant, passed away quietly at his home Monday, June 1, 2015, surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born October 6, 1933 in Cabarrus County to the late Horace Lee Herrin and the late Audie Belle Herrin. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jacille C. Herrin, and siblings, Daphne Rowland and Jack Herrin.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Thursday, June 4, at 11:00 am at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 32056 Herrin Grove Rd., Mount Pleasant, officiated by Rev. Beau Linker. Mr. Herrin will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include son, Dennis Herrin and wife Ryan; daughter, Robin Safrit and husband Charles; four grandchildren, Nicholas Herrin, Kate Herrin, Grant Herrin and Cole Herrin; sister, Shirley Settlemyre; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry attended Millingport and Ridgecrest Schools. He and his wife, Jacille, were co-owners of Ritchie Construction Co., Inc. of Mount Pleasant, specializing in Utility Contracting for more than forty years. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country proudly. He was an active member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, attending the Men's Group and enjoyed worshipping God with his family and friends.
