David Fisher Ford

David Fisher Ford, age 78, passed away peacefully at his home at Uwharrie Point on Saturday evening, October 31, 2015. David was born in High Point, NC, on March 15, 1937, to the late Edith Wilhelmina Fisher Ford and Jesse Theodore Ford.

The family would be honored with your attendance at a Celebration of David's Life on Tuesday, November 3rd at 3:00 pm at The Old North State Club, Uwharrie Point. The family will have a reception for friends immediately after the service at the club. A private interment will take place at a later date. The service will be officiated by Rev. J. Scott Orr.

David was a 1955 graduate of Richfield High School, and attended Pfeiffer College. He was in the 814th US Army Transportation Battalion (Army Reserves) and then called to active duty in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis. He was a graduate of the NCO Academy, Fort Eustis, VA and was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant in 1963. He was a member of the Sgt. Ivy Ritchie Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #1734, Albemarle, NC.

David founded Morning Glory Eggs, Inc. of Richfield, NC, in 1967 where he developed EASY EGGS® - a method for commercially producing hard-cooked, peeled eggs in large volume for restaurant and institutional use. Soon after, in cooperation with The Food Science Department of North Carolina State University, he developed ultra-pasteurized liquid eggs. This product was patented and sold nationally. He served as President of the company until it was sold to Michael Foods in 1988. During his employment, he also served a term as President of the North Carolina Egg Association.

David loved his community and was part of many organizations. He served as President of Richfield Civitan Club, President of Stanly County Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Stanly County Industrial Development Commission. He was a former member of the Richfield-Misenheimer Volunteer Fire Department, and was involved in the creation of the Richfield Park. He also served several years on the Pfeiffer College Board of Trustees. He was a member of Richfield Baptist Church where he formerly served as Treasurer and Sunday School Superintendent, as well as various other roles.

David loved his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandsons grow up playing the sports they love. David played semi-pro baseball and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed playing many years of golf with friends at Stanly County Country Club and at The Old North State Club. On and off the golf course and lake, his friends liked to call him "The Merchant".

He is survived by wife of over 55 years, Pam Furr Ford of the home; son, Roger David Ford and wife, Dale of Albemarle, NC; grandsons, Weston and Connor Ford; brother, Doug Ford and wife, Rahnda of Little River, SC; and sister, Emily Ford Tate of Concord, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Ford Harward.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made towards a scholarship being established in his name to: Stanly Community College Foundation, 141 College Drive, Albemarle, NC, in memory of David F. Ford.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Ford Family.
