Helen Burleson

High Point - Helen Marie Eudy Burleson, 92, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Morningside Assisted Living. The sixth of fourteen children, she was born December 18, 1922, in Stanly County to Daniel and Effie Mae Hatley Eudy.

Helen was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Gordon McDonald Burleson (October 10, 1960) as well as five sisters Lillie Mae Bowers, Dortha Burleson, Floris Efird, Lois Efird and Peggy Cox; and six brothers Carlie L. Eudy, Jasper A. Eudy, William D. Eudy, James R. Eudy, Gaston Eudy and J.C. Eudy.

Surviving are her daughter Debra Burleson Robbins (Larry) of Raleigh; grandchildren Zachary Harris Robbins, Gordon Bryan Robbins, Lauren Robbins Dickson (Seavy Dawson Highsmith Dickson) and Cameron Paige Robbins all of Raleigh; sister Myrtle Jean Eudy Mabry and brother Melvin Mitchell Eudy of Stanly County.

Helen was a resident of High Point for nearly seventy years. She was a charter member of the Frances McFarland Bible Class, organized October 9, 1949, one of fourteen members at Main Street Methodist Church, later to become Christ United Methodist Church. She retired from Hewlett-Packard Co. in 1986. She began in the general office in 1957, and then became Order Processing Supervisor before becoming Administrative Manager and then Internal Auditor until retirement. On May 14, 2012 Helen moved to Morningside Assisted Living in Raleigh.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, at Christ United Methodist Church of High Point with Rev. Dr. Matthew S. Farabow officiating the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern North Carolina; or Liberty Hospice Services, Raleigh NC.
